The buildings throughout Mana College secondary school were in need of revitalisation. Stephenson & Turner Architects designed a stunning site-wide master plan that offered innovative and quality learning spaces for both the college and the wider community.
The scheme includes various redevelopments of vital learning areas including a large gymnasium containing a vast amount of Featurecraft’s 12mm Fire Rated Birch Plywood. Unstained plywood lines the upper half of the walls, including some with added battens installed over the joins. In contrast, the lower half of the building features the same plywood but finished with a dark stain, creating a striking aesthetic within the open space.
Our 12mm thick Fire Rated Birch Plywood achieves a group 1S fire classification rating with no intumescent coating. During the construction process, fire resistant products are specially applied within the layers to achieve this rating. Group 1S is the highest rating achievable in the NZ Building Code.
